Wenzel’s the Bakers partnered with Synergy PV Renewables to execute a major sustainability upgrade at their high-demand production facility in Sunley House, Watford. With the site operating extensive hours to support baking, refrigeration, and distribution logistics, the facility faces a significant and continuous energy demand.
The objective was to implement a large-scale renewable energy solution that would not only drastically cut carbon emissions but also stabilise long-term operational costs against a volatile energy market.
Completed in September 2023, this 228.8 kWp installation represents a strategic alignment between energy generation and consumption. Because the factory runs energy-intensive equipment, including industrial mixers, ovens, and packaging lines, throughout the day, the solar generation curve aligns perfectly with the facility’s peak operational hours.
This allows Wenzel’s to offset a massive portion of their daytime electricity consumption directly at the point of use, effectively future-proofing the business against rising commercial electricity prices while solidifying their reputation as an environmentally responsible UK manufacturer.
